Chanteuse Internationale MICAELA LEON‘s performances focus mainly on the theatrical portrayals of Weimar Berlin cabaret songs, but also include a wide range of material, from the American Songbook to French chansons and ‘60s pop. Her repertoire includes many different Weimar Berlin cabaret shows, Kurt Weill / Bertolt Brecht recitals, a Marlene Dietrich homage, a French Existentialist tribute and various other programs that have been produced in venues internationally. Her evocative interpretations of the unique Weimar Berlin repertoire have gained her much critical and artistic success.


Leon has a breadth of experience as a singer and actress having performed opera, musical theatre, cabaret, classical theatre, and contemporary music. A graduate of the Lee Strasberg Institute for Theatre and Film in New York, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Voice) from Hochschule für Musik, Dresden and Trinity College of Music, London. She trained with Jessica Cash, as well as Linda Hirst, one of Britain‘s leading singers of the contemporary music repertoire.


Leon is a NY Nightlife Award finalist and was nominated as outstanding Debut Female Artist at the Manhattan Association of Cabaret Awards. In her adopted city, NYC, Leon performed at Café Sabarsky, Metropolitan Room, Iridium Jazz Club, Le Poisson Rouge, Spiegeltent, Gotham Comedy Club, and Don’t Tell Mama. She has also performed to packed houses in London’s former legendary Pizza on the Park, the Edinburgh Festival, and the Pantheon Theater in Bonn, Germany among others.


Early on in her career, Leon had the chance to work with major artists such as Placido Domingo, Philipp Glass, Margit Carstensen, and Carlos Saura among others, who shaped her artistic outlook. She continues to enjoy collaborating with exceptional talent from a number of different genres: from conceptual artists to progressive DJs, contemporary classical musicians to international fashion designers. She was invited by the 5th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art to perform for conceptual artist Susanne Kriemann as part of her performance „General-Pape-Strasse 100“ at the „Schwerbelastungskörper“ in Berlin Tempelhof. Other collaborations include Project Perpetuum with Chamber Jazz Duo Baier & Gutbrod featuring dancer Emma Desjardins of the Merce-Cunningham-Dance Company. As part of the exclusive Chrystoph Marten Salon series in NYC, Leon teamed up with underground DJ Scott Mou and international fashion designer Derek Lam to stage her show Weimar Noir. The show‘s video trailer is on permanent display in Derek Lam’s Showroom in SoHo, NYC.Further collaborations included recordings on Brooklyn indie rock band Career Club’s Pure Hearing and Jean Toussaint´s Nazaire The Street Above The Underground with blues guitarist Tony Remy, which received the BBC British Jazz Best Album Award. Micaela Leon was featured in a Maroon 5 short film for MTV, and appeared in Tim Burton‘s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.


Micaela Leon‘s first full-length solo album will be released later this year.
